Transition Year Mission Statement
To promote the personal, social, educational and vocational development of pupils and to prepare them for their role as autonomous, participative, and responsible members of society.
- Transition Year was introduced into the school programme in 1996.
- It is an optional programme.
- In the last two years, 100% of our Junior Certificate students have taken up the Transition Year option.
- They are divided into 4 base classes.
Our Philosophy
We believe that the inclusion of a fourth year in the secondary school cycle gives the student a more rounded education.
- It offers her a chance to mature and develop socially, intellectually and emotionally.
- It enables her to explore options, which would not otherwise be normally open to her.
- It allows her to build for herself a more solid foundation before proceeding to a Leaving Certificate programme.
After completing Transition Year you should.....
- Be more confident and secure.
- Be more caring and sensitive to the needs of others.
- Have taken responsibility for your own learning.
- Be able to communicate more effectively
- Have considered your future career
- Nurtured your talents and discovered new ones
- Become more inquisitive about the world around you
- Have made some friends for life!
