Assessment
Assessment is encouraged and carried out in a variety of ways according to the Guidelines for Transition Year. Individual teachers/departments will implement, evaluate and assess their own modules during the course of the year and Transition Year reports are sent home twice yearly at Christmas and at the end of the school year in May, together with a letter from the TY Coordinator.

1. SUBJECTS and MODULES
- CORE SUBJECTS: Continuous Assessment is carried out by individual teachers during each term. The students will also sit formal exams in the core subjects in May
- OTHER SUBJECTS and MODULES Students are assessed during the course of the modules
2. THE PORTFOLIO Each student must compile her own portfolio of Transition Year, which is assessed twice yearly: December and May Portfolio assessment was introduced in SAC in 2000/2001 in line with TYSS recommendations for good TY practice. Students are informed and prepared for this during induction week and during the weekly Tutorial Class. In 2014 - 2015 we introduced the online portfolio using the web-based resource MYTY.ie Students may upload photos, videos and written reports of their experiences in TY, in addition they can access their calendars, timetables and reminders from teachers online.
